Cell Service and Emergency Communications

Cell phone service can be limited in some areas of our municipality. Residents are encouraged to contact their mobile service provider to learn about options that may improve connectivity in rural areas.

Some providers now offer satellite or hybrid services that may allow emergency texting or calling when traditional cellular service is unavailable. Availability and features vary by provider and device.

Residents should speak directly with their service provider to determine what options may be available to them.

In the meantime, organizations that represent municipalities, including our Regional Service Commission (RSC) and the Union of Municipalities of New Brunswick (UMNB), are advocating on behalf of communities like ours for improvements to rural cellular and emergency communication services.
