Forested Wetland Workshops

Join the Nature Trust of New Brunswick for a Forested Wetlands Workshop in Perth-Andover. This engaging day-long event begins in the morning with an indoor learning session at Wolastok Cafe, followed by a field component in the afternoon (location to be determined).

Participants will explore the importance of these ecosystems, build hands-on identification skills, and learn how to support local conservation efforts. The afternoon will include a collaborative walk-and-talk, offering space to share perspectives and connect with landholders and experts in a meaningful natural setting.

Note: Attendance is free, and light refreshments will be provided during the morning session. Participants are encouraged to bring lunch if they plan to attend the afternoon session as well. If you'd only like to attend part of the day, please contact carli.leroux@ntnb.org

What to Expect:

- Learn how to identify a forested wetland

- Learn about regulations on working in wetlands

- Identify Species-at-Risk in forested wetlands

- Discuss cultural views on forested wetlands

- Learn how to steward forested wetland habitat

- Walk-and-talk with Nature Trust staff and partners

What to bring for the field session:

- Closed toes shoes

- Appropriate clothing for the weather

- Water, lunch and snacks

- Sunscreen, Bug spray and/or bug net

- Camera (optional)

Please note: During the afternoon field event, we will be venturing into areas with uneven terrain, slippery trails, and other hazards. We may be working in areas that are off-trail and un-maintained, so please come prepared with adequate, water-resistant footwear. 

If you have any severe allergies or health concerns, please bring the proper medical prescriptions (EpiPen, inhaler, etc.) and inform staff.
