Fire Permits
Do You Need a Burn Permit? Here’s What You Should Know
If you're planning to burn brush, debris, or anything larger than a small recreational fire, you must get a Burn Permit in advance.
What is considered a "small recreational fire"?
A fire that is:
• Under 0.5 metres high and 0.5 metres wide
• Contained in a non-flammable or non-combustible container (e.g., a metal fire ring, chiminea, or outdoor fire bowl)
• Used only for warmth, cooking, or social enjoyment
*** Any fire exceeding that size or purpose requires a Burn Permit.***
How to Apply for a Burn Permit
• Your first three permits are free each calendar year
• After that, you must apply for a 1-month, 3-month, or 6-month permit (fee applies)
• All permits must be obtained before burning begins
